I think God's spoken!
I was standing there at the AWAA seminar yesterday, when I completely felt the presence of God in that place. I looked at Katie, and I said, "I think He's said yes." We both smiled, and yesterday began our "adoption process." Dossier, here we come! We were told this process could take anywhere from 4-6 months. We were told, if approved, the waiting stage could take up to 3 years. We were told we'd have to live in China for a couple weeks. We were told, we were told, we were told, and all I heard was God saying, "listen to My plans for you." I have heard rumors of some very incredible wait periods on Chinese adoptions, and I would be interested in hearing other people's stories on their own wait times.

I am so glad to hear that you felt God's presence while at the AWAA seminar. I will pray for you all as you begin your papercase. If you email me, I will give you our password and address to our website. SO you can look at our journey while we were in China. I will also let you know that we are just a few months ahead of you in our paperchase, for a son from China. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

YES! Is there a sweeter word?!? I will be praying with you through this process.
Our adoptions were both from South Korea. The process is different in many ways, but our God is the same.
Our 1st son took 1.5 years start to finish, but that included a 6 month pause while my husband was dealing with medical issues that had to be proven not to affect his life expectancy. From the time we were "assigned" our child to when he was placed in our arms was supposed to be 4-6 months. For us, it was 2 months, 4 days.
Our 2nd son was about 11 months from 1st application to arrival (faster because the homestudy was an update, not a completely new one.) In November, I felt led to pray about February, which I did, sharing that only with my 2 prayer partners—not even my husband. I thought perhaps our child would be born in Feb. However, we were assigned our son on Dec. 12th. Our caseworker warned us that “lightening doesn’t strike twice” so we shouldn’t expect a fast arrival this time—May was our expectation. On Valentine’s Day we received the call saying that Feb. 21, was arrival day!
In the interest of sharing reality, I also must say that my sister’s family who adopted from South Korea this year, had a much longer wait, and the praying was just as intense for them as for us. We just know that God has His timeline and it is always perfect. Not easy to be patient with, but ALWAYS perfect.
Thank you for keeping us updated about your journey. You are beginning an exciting, frustrating, unbelievable process that will help you grow in your faith in new ways.

Found your blog through Jim Houser's and wanted to say congrats to a member of the 'family'. What a wonderful blog family that has been created. As you begin your process, I pray that you and your wife would have the strength and comfort and everything else you need to get through.
My husband and I will probably find out within the next month if 2 big obstacles in our path are going to keep us from starting our journey to adopt from China. As you think of this, please remember us in prayer. We haven't shared our plans/thoughts with anyone because it may fall through. However, I just felt led to share on your blog. I am excited for you and Katie. Best wishes and blessings for your family!!
How exciting and life-changing, for you and for the little one whose entire world will be changing. God bless you on your journey! You both seem to be such amazing parents, this child you have not even met yet is very blessed!
How is your leg, and how is Katie's cold? I haven't had time to do any more than pop in but you've been in my prayers.
Ann from Chicagoland
Ann, my foot is still in a cast. I'm still "testing" it, much to Kate's anger and against my doctor's orders.
Katie's allergies make her under the weather occasionally. She is feeling better. Thank you for asking.
Thank you all for praying!
I was fervently praying for you Saturday and got a big chill around noon....like God had just done something wonderful at that time.
I just can't praise him enough today for answered prayers and the thought of another child being raised in a Christian home.
If you are looking at China for the possible country, then you need to become familiar with the Rumor Queen blog site @ http://chinaadopttalk.com. It will help you tremendously with questions and answers from the many who have "been there, done that" and build a support group for you during the wait.
Good Luck with the paper chase and we are all here to support your decision. I'm so excited for you!!
